History...
In 1991, Russ and Cheryl Woodmansee purchased a 1915 building on the
corner of Main and 8th Street in the small rural community of Florence,
AZ. Starting out with an old push button register and hand typed
statements they soon had operations down to a science.
Eight
years later, they acquired the adjoining 10,000 sq. ft. building to the
south. Before the building could be put to use, some much needed
repairs were in order. Along with the the repairs, an eye was kept toward
maintaining the style and charm of an old fashioned hardware store.
Today, Russ and Cheryl still run the day to day operations of Florence
True Value Hardware, which now occupies a fully restored historic
homemade building, complete with a hammer for the front door handle,
three working street lights, two real fire hydrants, a fire pole, pedal
cars, and donated antiques. And who can pass up the complementary
fresh hot popcorn.
